Solar Shed's Kevin Holland takes Climate Stripes flag to King's Lynn's annual Hanse Festival
Last month, Lynn had its annual Hanse Festival and with it, the Hanse wonderful and extremely colourful flag parade.
This year, I took the Climate Stripes flag with me and flew it high on the parade through town.
The climate stripes were created by Professor Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading in 2018.
They show clearly and vividly how global average temperatures have risen over nearly two centuries.
Each stripe represents the average temperature for a single year, relative to the average temperature over the period as a whole.
Shades of blue indicate cooler-than-average years, while the red shows years that were hotter than average.
So whilst certain climate denying writers to the Lynn News letter page may dismiss last week’s heat as ‘weather’, the facts suggest otherwise.
