This Syderstone Brownie Pack was formed in the spring of 1994 – and within weeks was so successful that membership had grown to an impressive 26-strong contingent of girls, some travelling from the neighbouring village of Tattersett.
This Lynn News picture was taken in May when the pack had already banked £105 for funds from a coffee morning and the future looked bright.
Meetings were held every Tuesday for an hour-and-a-half under the leadership of Jean White (Brown Owl) who was assisted by Betty Wells (Tawny Owl), Karen Meyer (Snowy Owl) and Jackie Rockley. Photo: MLNF-9405228

MLNF-0205948May 2002: Susan Irvine and her daughter Becky were decked out as characters from HMS Lollipop for the annual Friends of the Samaritans sponsored bike ride – and duly won the prize for the best dressed pair. More than 80 pirates and other seafaring folk completed the 13-mile ride which started and finished in Dersingham. MLNF-0205964May 2004: Meet the brainbox! Four-year-old Matthew Harrison from Gaywood was named as the youngest British member of Mensa, the exclusive group of the top two per cent of the cleverest people in the country. Matthew had an IQ of 130, way above the national average of 100. His parents Christopher and Sarajayne, said: “We don’t make a big deal of it. We are proud of him for what he is and we just want to nurture that potential.” MLNF-04051117May 2004: Staff and children at Lynn Nursery School had an afternoon of footballing fun with Linnets player Robbie Harris to help celebrate receiving an Investors in People award. MLNF-0405203May 2004: Celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of King John granting Lynn its charter to become a free borough included a sunshine parade through the town. In this picture the Mayor and Mayoress Paul and Teresa Brandon, accompanied by the civic sword-bearer, take time out to chat to youngsters waiting to join the parade. MLNF-04051144May 2004: Norfolk Wildlife Trust officials announced that land close to Lynn would become one of the largest wetland and heathlands to be created in the county since the Second World War. NWT Roydon Common was one of only 220 National Nature Reserves in the country and represented a rare block of wet heathland that once covered much of the area. A new wildlife area at nearby Grimston Warren was paid for thanks to generous donations from charitable trusts and fixing the new sign in position is NWT field officer William Boyd (left), joined by Sir George Blunden (centre, of the Wensum Wildlife Trust) and Raymond Philpot, also from the trust.
