May 2000: Baldly going where no man – and certainly not many women – have gone before are these regulars at Gaywood’s New Inn who lost their locks for charity.

Following the lead of landlord Dave Hanwell, they volunteered their heads to the clippers of stylists Gina Hall (Sizzers Hair Design) and Andrew King (Snippers) who gave their services free – and the final result was a head-turning £1,700 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Sgt Dave Duff from RAF Marham and Warrant Officer Mick Chandler from RAF Cranwell had trained hard for the 125-mile challenge and Sgt Duff (right) received a hero’s welcome when he presented the cheque to the King’s Lynn Kandoo Club chairman Ian Bullen, watched by club members and helpers.
