Memorial to ‘well-known’ Fakenham woman Fiona Woodcock, which had been in situ for five years, discovered missing on Mother’s Day
The bereaved family of a “well-loved” woman have been left in the dark after discovering that her memorial was missing on Mother’s Day.
Fiona Woodcock, from Fakenham, died suddenly at the age of 46 when her heart stopped outside of her daughter’s flat on Mill Court back in 2020.
A tribute was put up at the scene and had been there ever since, but after visiting the cemetery on Sunday, Fiona’s 18-year-old son Dylan and ex-partner Kevin Boyden discovered it had been taken down.
“No one has ever had an issue with it before,” Kevin said.
“It’s never been moved, it’s been there through sunshine, rain, snow and hail.”
He believes it must have been removed sometime after Thursday, which was the last time he remembers seeing it.
“My son was quite upset about it, especially since it was on Mother’s Day. Fiona’s mum is fuming about it as well.”
At the time of her funeral, residents lined the streets to pay their respects to the mother-of-three and grandmother-of-two.
Kevin, who described Fiona as his “best friend”, has contacted Victory Housing and has made enquiries about CCTV to get to the bottom of it, but he has had no luck.
“She was well known in the community and took part in charity work - just a genuine, loving person,” he added.
The family are planning to put their heads together to come up with a more permanent memorial in its place.
