A hop, skip and a win for King's Lynn vets practice

A Lynn vet practice hopped into first place as winners were announced for an award for championing rabbit welfare in the community.

The inaugural award was presented to Mill House Vets, in Tennyson Avenue, who were chosen over hundreds of entrants across the UK in The Burgess Excel Vet Awards.

Celebrating the hard work of rabbit-friendly vets, vet nurses and veterinary practices, Mill House Vets were the winners of the Best Rabbit Awareness Week Campaign of the Year.

Abi Nell, student veterinary nurse at Mill House, said: "I am thrilled that I have won this recognition for our campaign. At Mill House Veterinary Hospital we are passionate about the health and wellbeing of our rabbit patients, and we relish the opportunity to provide additional support and education for our clients."

Chosen by industry experts and rabbit specialists, the Lynn practice was the winner and recipient of a £500 cash prize and a Burgess Excel Vet Awards trophy.

Burgess Excel Awards judge Dr Suzanne Moyes said: “Huge congratulations to Mill House Veterinary Practice for winning this award, which is testament to their hard work and determination to provide the very best of care for rabbits, not to mention their passion and knowledge to improve rabbits’ wellbeing.

"Huge thanks must also go to all of the veterinary professionals and practices that were shortlisted. The quality and sheer number of applications and nominations we received was astounding, so it was no easy task drawing up a final shortlist and deciding on the winners.”

Winners were judged on numerous criteria, including their expert understanding of rabbits’ specific needs, the specialist rabbit facilities available in the practice, the provision of educational rabbit materials and the general support for rabbit owners.

Holly Ackroyd, senior brand manager at Burgess Pet Care added: “It’s been fantastic to hear about so many veterinary professionals who are going above and beyond every day to take care of the UK’s rabbits. Abi has done a wonderful job of promoting RAW for Mill House, who are clearly very passionate about providing the best of care for rabbits: they are very worthy winners and we are thrilled that their work has been recognised.”
