Pupils at Heartwood CE VC Primary and Nursery School in Swaffham have received a donation of hi-vis bag tags from Barratt Homes to help them shine bright during Road Safety Week.
The Norfolk housebuilder has given the school 35 of the bag tags for their pupils to wear while walking to and from school, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads as the darker nights draw in.
Road Safety Week started on Monday and inspires thousands of schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and promote life-saving messages during the week and beyond.

The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Safe Roads for All’, which highlights that every life on the road matters, and every death and injury is preventable.
Heartwood head teacher Emily McMillen said: “Road safety features heavily in our Life Skills curriculum and we empower our pupils with the knowledge and skills to keep safe on and near roads.
"A key part of staying safe is to be visible to road users, especially in the darker months. The generous donation from Barratt Homes will enable our pupils to be seen and be visible. This works alongside our community campaign to reduce White Cross Road to 20mph.”

The homebuilder’s Ceres Rise development is located close to the school and the donation of hi-vis bag tags is part of Barratt Homes’ ongoing commitment to the local community.
Daniel Evans, managing director at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible now the darker nights are here, and our donation will hopefully still encourage them to walk to school safely during Road Safety Week.
“This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local school children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the bag tags have proven to be both effective and practical.”
