Coastguard anger following suspected hoax call at Old Hunstanton




Emergency crews working along West Norfolk's coastline have spoken out following a suspected hoax call early today.

Coastguard and Lifeboat units were scrambled at around 12.40am today, after a call claimed that a person was "shouting for help" in the water at Old Hunstanton.

But officials say nothing was found, despite a land and sea search of the area.

The caller is also thought to have left the area without making any further contact.

A post on the Hunstanton Coastguard's Facebook page said the incident was classed as a hoax call before the units returned to their stations.

It added: "Please do not phone Hoax calls in, Hoax calls put lives at risk !!!"
