Second Greggs branch could come to Fakenham as Motor Fuel Group submits plans to demolish and rebuild Morrisons Petrol Station
A town’s petrol station could be demolished and rebuilt with a fast-food chain incorporated if plans go ahead.
An application has been lodged with North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) to knock down the current Morrisons Petrol Station in Fakenham and replace it with a new one.
If approved, the current operator, Motor Fuel Group (MFG), has plans for the new building to include a Greggs branch, which would be the second one in town.
It comes after MFG announced it completed a £40million investment into upgrading Morrisons forecourts across the country back in October.
At the time, William Bannister, the CEO of MFG, said the company delivered the changes both on time and with minimal disruption to customers and communities.
“Our primary goal is to ensure every customer that enters an MFG site is catered for, whether this be through retail, valeting or fuel offerings,” he added.
The demolition of the current Fakenham site would include getting rid of the sales building and car wash in preparation for a new one with a cash point, canopy alterations, a new bin store, solar panels and associated works.
A spokesperson for Greggs said it is due to open a new shop in Fakenham later this year, operated by MFG.
“We look forward to welcoming Greggs fans and new customers to come try our range of tasty bakes, hot drinks and sweet treats,” they added.
