Appeal for new volunteers at Girlguiding sessions in Hunstanton, Sandringham and Heacham
A fresh appeal is calling on volunteers to inspire youngsters by helping out at Girlguiding sessions across our area.
Girlguiding, the UK's largest youth organisation dedicated entirely to girls, opens doors for girls aged four to 18, providing them with opportunities to laugh, learn, and develop essential life skills.
As they seek to expand their reach, the organisation is calling for adult volunteers to join its vibrant community - particularly at groups like Hunstanton Rainbows, Heacham Brownies, and Gayton and Sandringham Guides.
“We believe every girl should have the chance to discover her strengths and passions,” Nicky, a division commissioner for Girlguiding Norfolk, said.
“Whether you can spare an hour a week or more, your contribution can make a significant impact on a girl’s life.
“Volunteers do not need prior guiding experience - all that is required is a passion for helping young girls realise their potential.”
According to a recent survey conducted by Girlguiding, 87% of girls who participated in the programme reported feeling more confident, and 70% felt they had developed new friendships.
“Being a part of Girlguiding is not just about providing activities - it's about inspiring the next generation,” Ruby, a volunteer leader with the Snettisham Brownies, said.
“Every session is an opportunity for girls to step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and grow into confident individuals. The joy and laughter we share is simply rewarding.”
While some may hesitate to volunteer due to time constraints or lack of experience, the organisation is keen to emphasise that every little bit helps.
“We often hear from volunteers that they get as much as they give. The friendships forged and mentorships developed are truly irreplaceable,” Ruby added.
