Arrest made after A47 crash at West Bilney involving BMW, Suzuki Swift, Ford Mondeo and VW Golf leaves three seriously hurt




A man has been arrested after three people were seriously injured following a four-vehicle crash on the A47.

Police are appealing for witnesses after emergency services were called to the collision in West Bilney just after 7pm on Friday.

Officers said a black BMW 1 Series, a red Suzuki Swift, a grey Ford Mondeo and a black VW Golf were involved in a crash, west of Pentney Lane.

Both the VW driver and one of his passengers were left with serious injuries.

The driver, a man in his early 20s, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, where he currently remains.

The passenger, a man in his late teens, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where he remains. Another passenger suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the BMW, a man in his 20s, suffered minor injuries and went to hospital, but has since been discharged.

His passenger was left with serious injuries and remains at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Road closures were put in place at the A1122 Downham Road roundabout and the Hardwick roundabout while an investigation was carried out, which were later lifted at 11.42pm.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and since released under investigation.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
