New King's Lynn barber shop offers VIP treatment

A barber shop has opened on Wisbech Road in Lynn and is off to a stylish start.

The Stag and Hounds offers haircuts, hot-towel shaves, beard trim and wax, face masks and a VIP service.

Owners Gem and Mustafa Kara, who are Turkish, had business links in Soho in London and now they are in Lynn they are closer to their family run business, Manor Road Kebabs, in Dersingham.

Manager of Stag and Hounds Mustafa Kara said: "From Soho to King's Lynn has been a big difference and so far it's good, people like it and we've had positive comments."

A member of the team Baktas Gezek has been a barber for five years and he said: "We're pleased and more than happy and this is just the start of the road."

Mr Gezek was busy trimming, cutting and shaping the hair and beard of a gentleman client in the barber chair.

The customer Dave Cuming, from Terrington St John, had been in hospital for a few days so this was a welcome facial tidy up.

He said: "I'm well pleased, I feel a lot better after this. It's perfect, nice people and it's the first time I have been here.

"It's something a bit more special and this handsome man was the first customer."

The barbershop aims to be a relaxing space for clients to experience and also for their waiting spouses or children. They will be offered a cup of Turkish tea and a pool table will keep kids occupied whilst a parent is having their treatment.

Another customer said: "I only discovered this last Saturday and thought it was new. My boys prefer Turkish barbers as the service is so professional."

With free car parking next to the premises which are open Monday to Saturday 9am-7pm and Sunday from 10am-5pm, a VIP treatment costs £28 plus with a loyalty card it means customers can save stamps for a free face mask or a free haircut.

Gem Kara said: "We want to provide a relaxing and chilled out place with a pool table, Turkish tea as service-wise we are really going for style."
