Throughout the day, they participated in a series of exciting science experiments inspired by popular books, sparking curiosity and a love for learning in a fun and engaging way.

To celebrate their hard work, pupils had the opportunity to showcase their experiments to parents at a special Science Fair.

Each experiment demonstrated the power of imagination and inquiry combined.

Mathew Tuckwood, head teacher at the school, said: “A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for their creativity and enthusiasm in making this event such a success, and to our parents for their support. It was truly a spectacular day of learning, laughter, and discovery.”

Hannah Taylor, science leader, said: “It was fantastic to see the children so engaged and excited about science.

“By linking experiments to books, we have shown them that science is all around us and can be just as magical as the stories they love.

“The Science Fair was a wonderful way for the pupils to share their learning with parents, and we hope it has inspired many young scientists in the making.”

Kirstie Taylor, reading leader said: “It was great to see the children immersed in both stories and science in a fun and creative way.

“At Whitefriars we want all children to develop a lifelong love of reading and I feel events like this are a great way to achieve this.

“It's important for children to be surrounded by a range of high-quality books, especially those that link to their learning across a range of subject areas - it really brought the children's learning to life and the entire day had a real buzz about it.”
