Cancer patient's sponsored walk for King's Lynn's hospital
A breast cancer sufferer is doing a sponsored walk to benefit Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she is being treated.
Sandy Underwood, 54, is undergoing chemotherapy and the 10-mile round trip between Heacham and Old Hunstanton is scheduled for a rest week during her treatment.
Proceeds from the walk on June 30 will go to the West Norfolk Breast Care Unit.
Sandy, who worked at the hospital for more than 20 years and is now a HIV nurse specialist at iCaSh in Lynn, is doing the walk with niece Megan Clarke and Megan’s mum, Julie Wilson.
The event has been organised by Megan, 18, who is on a nursing and paramedics course at College of West Anglia before going to Anglia Ruskin University in September to study children’s nursing.
Fundraising is already well on the way to achieving the initial target of £500.
