Heacham care company Extra Hands introduces Birdie platform to provide hi-tech services

A West Norfolk care company is celebrating the introduction of a new digital monitoring service it believes is the 'future of caring'.

The Birdie platform aims to provide an online system designed to keep families and carers up to date on patient care, both at home and away from it.

And now, its services have been acquired by Extra Hands - which has offices in Heacham.

Jo Tier, director of care services at Extra Hands, has praised the new system.

She believes it will revolutionise the way staff share medical needs with families, caring and medical professionals in real time.

Jo said: "The Birdie system has made a massive difference to the way we can communicate with each other, our colleagues and the families of the people we care for.

"Basically it is all about live monitoring and everyone on the system can see what is going on in real time."

She system also creates needs and risk assessments, raises alerts and concerns, and allows staff to access assessment reviews and ‘Body Maps’.

And Jo is especially pleased with Birdie's innovative medication manager.

She added: “Even families who live away can be updated with all they need to know; including medication and care.

“They can also even see what their relatives have had for their meals and even how much they have eaten.”

Jo believes the system, which she admits was a ‘big investment’ for the family-run company, is the 'future of caring'.

Birdie platforms can also help care professionals with financing, auditing, rostering and staff management.
