Christmas wreaths for King's Lynn's QEH bereavement suite
A Lynn support group for women who suffer miscarriages has teamed up with a florist to raise funds for the new bereavement suite at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Coping and Living With Miscarriage (CALM) had been running in Lynn for 30 years, but was taken over by Jo Patrick after she suffered a miscarriage in 2018 and struggled to cope.
She said: “I suffered a miscarriage in September 2018 and struggled to cope. The EPAU nurse told me there used to be a support group but wasn’t sure if it was still going so I got in touch with Cate, one of the original founders and we resurrected CALM.
“The bereavement suite is a necessity for bereaved parents to enable them to create everlasting memories with their babies away from the sounds of labouring women and newborn cries.”
Over the years, Jo has also launched a baby loss charity at the hospital for those who suffer early pregnancy loss. She fundraises for the Lynn News charity of the year, the QEH bereavement suite and is raising money for a community memorial garden at Nordelph Village Hall.
She connected with Lisa, who runs Lisa Darban’s Bespoke Florists in Windsor, via social media and Lisa is donating a percentage of the profits from her handmade Christmas wreaths and wreath workshops to the bereavement suite fund.
Those wishing to purchase a wreath should quote CALM when booking, and call 07877 300283 for further information. Or contact Lisa via Twitter @BespokeFlorist.
