Church in West Lynn reopens after two-month closure

Churchgoers gathered at St Peter’s Church, in West Lynn, on Sunday to reopen the place of worship after a two-month closure.

Father Andrew Davy said the church has not been redecorated since either the 1960s or 1980s and it looks “magnificent” now work is complete.

He said: “The church looks smashing. This has been a total redecoration, back, front and inbetween. It cost around £15,000 to £16,000.

“I wouldn’t go as far as to say this was a restoration, just a redecoration.

“It is much lighter and brighter now and it just looks magnificent.

“We are hoping this will bring more people in and they will want to see our newly redecorated church. It is a wonderful environment.

“We are all very excited about it and very pleased to be back in here again after our two month closure.”
