King's Lynn students redirected due to police attending incident

Students in Lynn were redirected to another location due to a police incident in which a man has been detained this morning.

College of West Anglia students were asked to go to Lynnsport instead of the Tennyson Avenue campus as a result of an earlier incident which police attended.

Police were called around 7.50am following reports of concerns for the safety of a man barricaded in the building.

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Police said: "Emergency services attended the scene and the college was evacuated for precautionary reasons. The man has since been detained.”

The college took to social media to say the students will remain at Lynnsport until the incident is resolved.

The post said: "The King’s Lynn campus is currently closed to students and staff as a result of an earlier incident which the police are attending."

The college issued a further statement at 10am to say students were returning to the main campus after police reopened the building.
