Bircham Newton’s Constructionarium celebrates achievements with West Norfolk Mayor Paul Bland and MP James Wild
A “hidden gem” of West Norfolk that leads construction education courses had several visitors from across the borough.
Constructionarium, which has its base in Bircham Newton, welcomed West Norfolk Mayor Paul Bland to see what goes on at the site.
The centre attracts more than 1,000 students and professionals every year to its training facility, where they get real-world experience by constructing scaled-down replicas of major engineering projects from around the world.
Last Friday, the business welcomed Cllr Bland to see the work done by students on the site.
He commented on “the exceptional build quality and camaraderie of the students during the week”.
A little later that day, North West Norfolk MP James Wild and Tim Balcon, CEO of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), joined in to celebrate the students' achievements and witness their teamwork in action.
Mr Wild said: “I am always delighted to visit Constructionarium, a hidden gem on our doorstep in Norh West Norfolk.
“The challenging nature of the training provided is clear to see along with the enjoyment of the students that are undertaking the courses. It is amazing to see these structures completed in one week.”
Tim Balcon added: “CITB are keen supporters of the work Constructionarium delivers at Bircham Newton.
“We are looking at ways that we can develop closer relationships for the future.”
Julia Stevens, chief executive of Constructionarium, said: "We are always delighted to showcase the incredible work our students achieve in such a short space of time.
“Having the continued support and engagement of the Mayor, Cllr Paul Bland, James Wild MP and Tim Balcon helps highlight the importance of our unique practical learning in shaping the next generation of construction professionals."
Constructionarium also marked the successful completion of the Millau Cable Bridge project by students from Texas A&M University - finishing ahead of schedule.
This was the first event held in 2025 for Constructionarium as they reopened their unique learning facility for the year.
