Breckland Council chairman Peter Wilkinson raises £450 for Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice
The chairman of Breckland Council has raised more than £450 for a hospice after a sponsored walk.
Cllr Peter Wilkinson organised the charity effort around Narborough, which also marked the start of his fundraising and awareness campaign for Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice and the charity SANDS UK during his term of office.
The walk took place on September, 2 and included officers and members of Breckland Council as well as special guests Sir Samuel and Lady Georgie Roberts, CEO of Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice.
The walk took in a visit to the historic Narborough bone mill, which was followed by lunch at the Narborough Museum.
Through their collective efforts, the walkers managed to raise more than £450, which will go directly towards supporting the hospice's vital work.
Cllr Wilkinson expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the charity walk, he said: "I am deeply touched by the outpouring of support from our community for this important cause.
“The generosity of those who donated to our cause will help Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice continue their invaluable work in helping those most in need.
“Together, we can all make a significant difference in the lives of those facing serious illnesses, ensuring that they receive the care and comfort they deserve.”
The hospice offers support to some 250 patients and their families every year.
Their team works in collaboration with NHS partners to provide free services to those in need.
his includes eight dedicated part-time staff and a group of more than 50 volunteers.
