Dog and woman rescued today at Brancaster by lifeboat
Hunstanton RNLI came to the aid of a woman and her dog in an early morning rescue today at Brancaster.
The crew of the Spirit of West Norfolk was called out at 5.50am and found a spring spaniel dog swimming in the fast-flowing channel with the incoming tide.
The crew managed to get hold of the dog and lift it aboard the lifeboat. It was completely exhausted.
They approached the woman owner who was on the shore and took her on board the lifeboat, and landed both into into the care of the local coastguard response team, who were at the harbour, as the road down to the beach was flooded due to the high tide
The RNLI's advice to dog owners is, if your dog is in trouble in the water do not do not go in after it. Call the coastguard who will call the RNLI if needed.
