Drone footage highlights work required to restore old Middleton Towers railway station
Drone footage has shown the scale of the task at hand for those hoping to restore the Middleton Towers railway station.
The Middleton Towers Restoration Group was recently successful in its application for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding via West Norfolk Council.
This unlocked £30,816 for the group to install two brand new roofs to the platform buildings - and now, an additional £1,000 grant has been secured to help provide fencing at the station.
Group founder Alex Brammer is over the moon with the funding - and has shared aerial photographs of the site, highlighting just how much work is required.
The shots show holes in the roof which will need to be repaired, while the former waiting room will need to be revamped before hopes of it being transformed into a tea room are realised.
Mr Brammer said: “I am delighted to announce that Middleton Towers Railway Station CIC has been successful in its application for a £1,000 grant for fencing at the station, via West Norfolk Council’s councillor community grant scheme.
“The money will solely be spent on securing the station with suitable fencing, to prevent trespassing and optimising safety for our volunteers and contractors.
“I would like to thank Cllrs Simon Nash and Thomas Barclay for their support for our application.”
