A retired carpenter from Swaffham died earlier this month from a cancer linked to exposure to asbestos.

Paul Anthony Moulton, 70, passed away at his home in Watton Road on October 7 after being treated for pleural mesothelioma.

An inquest into his death was held at Carrow House in Norwich on Friday.

Coroner Yvonne Blake read evidence including a statement made by Mr Moulton last year which detailed his working life.

He said he began as an apprentice carpenter and had worked on many housing developments throughout the region, cutting and drilling asbestos boards.

He described often being covered in dust as a result of the work and said he had never been given any warnings as to the dangers of exposure to asbestos and had never been offered protective equipment.

The coroner concluded that Mr Moulton died as the result of an industrial disease.
