Downham Market school submits classroom expansion plan
A trust has submitted plans for a new classroom at one of its West Norfolk schools.
Permission is being sought to build the new accommodation at the Nelson Academy in Downham.
The proposal has been submitted by the school’s sponsor, the Eastern Multi-Academy Trust.
Documents said the trust had consulted Norfolk County Council, which owns the buildings, before lodging the plans with West Norfolk Council.
They added: “NCC have confirmed they are supportive of the proposed additional classroom in principle. Subject to gaining planning permission, NCC will provide formal consent to the proposed development by way of issuing a ‘licence for works’.”
Previous expansion plans for trust-run schools have been referred to the borough council for a decision as the county council did not provide funding for them.
