For the eighth successive year, people from all over the area gathered to enjoy a day of summer festivities on Watlington’s recreation ground on Saturday.

Allison Bingham, secretary of the working group which organised the event, said the final total raised was still unknown as money raised during the day was still being counted.

But she said the day went “really well” with a Punch and Judy show proving a particularly popular attraction.

The fete had a full programme of activities, including sporting events such as a tug-of-war and penalty shoot-out, theatre sessions with the Watlington Players and music spread across the day.

Further attractions included, a bouncy castle, stalls, games, pre-school crafts, creative tents and Gray’s fairground rides.

The Angel pub also provided food, serving baguettes throughout the day.

All the proceeds from the fete will be shared between the village’s pre-school, hall and Millennium Green project.
