Hunstanton fire station holds fun family open day
An open day was held at Hunstanton fire station by members of Norfolk Fire and Rescue on Saturday along with organisations including Urban Search and Rescue.
Members of the public were able to see inside the station and have a go using the equipment such as water hoses at the fun family day out.
Youngsters donned the yellow fire helmets and members of the police also attended to talk about what it is like working for the emergency services.
One aim of the open day was to show the public what it is like to be a firefighter with a view of recruiting to the service.
A spokesperson said: "The crew held a number of fun and engaging displays of what we get up to, including aerial ladder and fire engine displays."
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution and coastguards were also in attendance to talk about water safety along with a cadets display.
Rigil Kent, watch manager said: "It was a really good day, we were a bit concerened with the weather as the sun had disappeared but it quickly cleared up.
"Some 800 people attended throughout the day although the coast guard got called away which depleted the stalls.
"Also the fire engine got called away during the demonstration.
"We raised some £842 for the fire fighter's charity and this was the first event since the pandemic and it was encouraging to see so many people who popped in.
"A big thank you to those who turned up and who also donated raffle prizes.
"The primary aim was to recruit people for on call positions."
