Gaywood drink-driver's car rolled back in the road
A Gaywood woman whose car rolled back in the road at Knights Hill roundabout has been banned for drink-driving.
Police had earlier been called to reports of Keeley Wheeler’s Citroen C3 was swerving all over the road.
When officers arrived, the 44-year-old was standing on the verge in Grimston Road.
She failed a breath test and was arrested. In custody she blew 97 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; the legal limit is 35.
Lynn Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday that Wheeler, who pleaded guilty to drink-driving on April 22, had a previous conviction for excess alcohol in 2008. However, this was outside the 10-year period which would attract a higher sentence.
In mitigation, Ruth Johnson said her client suffered from severe depression and anxiety and had been made homeless a couple of weeks before the offence.
Wheeler, of Gaywood Road, apologised to the court for her “thoughtlessness”.
She was banned from driving for two years, which can be cut with completion of a drink-driver rehabilitation course.
She was also given a 12-month community order with 80 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to pay £145 in costs and victim surcharge.
