Review of The Warehouse Taproom Bar and Restaurant in Setchey: Great hotspot for pizza and a pint on a summer’s evening
After visiting the Warehouse Taproom, antiques store and beer shop back in March, I was itching to get down there one weekend to try what they have on offer.
And with their introduction of their pizza and pint nights on Fridays and Saturdays, it was a perfect excuse for me and my partner Tom to head to Setchey to give it a try on Saturday evening.
On arrival, many sat in their beer garden which was a perfect place to sit with one of the many beers and ciders on offer.
We were greeted by a friendly waiter who sat us inside and gave us some time to decide what we wanted to eat and drink.
There were endless amounts of drink options, and we were informed that there were more beers on offer at the bar as well. I opted for a pint of Lilly’s mango cider (£5.50) and Tom chose a pint of Rekorderlig wild berries cider (£5.50).
We both agreed that our drinks were refreshing and perfect to be enjoyed on a warm evening.
Before tucking into our mains, we decided to share a starter of hummus and hand cut chunky bread (£6.50).
We agreed that the hummus was really creamy and went well with the olives and sundried tomatoes. We really enjoyed this and was the perfect amount to share between us.
Moving onto mains, I decided to try the Warehouse’s vegan pizza (£12.50) which came with garlic mushrooms, vegan cheese, spinach, jalapenos and a red onion Marmalade and Tom went for a classic magherita (£10.50).
I was really impressed with the generous amount of toppings which came on my pizza and the flavours really complemented each other. I’m not normally a fan of onion, but the sweet red onion relish really complimented the other toppings well and was delicious.
Tom said that he really enjoyed his pizza and that it was really cheesy.
Both pizzas came served in a box and with plates on the side which I thought was a great touch as someone who normally can’t finish a whole pizza and will ask for a box to take the rest home to eat the next day.
Tom suggested that we would both be hungry enough for a bowl of chips (£3.50) to share which were crispy and fluffy, but we couldn’t quite eat them all.
After chatting with the waiter, I told him that my pizza was one of the best vegan pizzas I’ve tried so far, and I stick to my word, it was delicious.
Before paying the bill which came to £49.80, we both had a diet coke before heading home.
I thought the food was very good value for money and I definitely plan to make a return in the coming summer months to make the most of having a pint in the beer garden.
