Titchwell Manor named best hotel in 2025 at Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism awards
A family-run hotel has been recognised for its “exceptional food” and “impressive location”.
Titchwell Manor, a stone’s throw from the Brancaster stretch of sea, was crowned the Best Hotel in 2025 in the recent Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism awards.
These awards are independently judged and the winners all go through to the finals for the national Visit England awards for excellence.
Owned and run by Eric Snaith, Titchwell Manor has been in the family since 1988, when his parents, Margaret and Ian Snaith, bought it.
Eric has been working in the kitchen and running the hotel alongside his parents since he was 16, and was formally handed the full business ownership in 2018.
He has grown up in the hotel since a young boy, sleeping occasionally in the corridor when guests needed rooms. Throughout that time, much development work has been undertaken with the addition of annexes and new rooms to meet demand.
Eric said: “It’s been a way of life for me since a very young age. I love cooking and really enjoy meeting our guests and new friends at the hotel.
“It’s a type of laid-back luxury, where everyone is welcome to lounge, drink and eat and we have a beautiful location opposite the sea and marsh.
“We are proud to be an independent, family-run hotel. Our talented team of chefs and our incredible front of house staff always bring pleasure to our guests – getting to know them and the things they like when they stay.
“I really think this award for best hotel in Norfolk and Suffolk and the other award we won a few months ago as the only hotel in Norfolk in the top 50 boutique hotels, is a real reflection on our tremendous food, location and relaxed ambience. My wife Lydia and I are so proud.”
The application asked for evidence of why the venue should be considered as the best hotel in Norfolk and Suffolk.
An excerpt from the application said: “We have an impressive location, directly opposite the sea, with access to many unspoilt areas of the coast and country to explore on foot, directly from the hotel, without using a car. This is unusual in North Norfolk due to its geographic spread.
“Our recent quantitative survey last month shows that the top reasons for staying are, we are right on the coast (47%) and we have friendly staff (46.4%). Our Good Hotel Guide award ‘hotels with a view’ 2024 is also evidence of this.
“We have an exceptional food offering. 51.2% come to the hotel because of our ‘great food’.
“Our food is relaxed fine dining, serving quality local produce which we promote in the menu and marketing – Brancaster oysters, Brancaster Seafood company, Arther Howell meat, Fruit Pig black pudding – and carefully sourced British ingredients.
“We have maintained three AA rosettes every year since 2013 and have a taste gold accolade and breakfast award. Our food quality score from AA is 100% from the June 2024 report.
“The kitchen is run and managed by Eric Snaith, executive chef-owner of the hotel.”
