Housebuilder Barratt Homes helps with Swaffham's Heartwood Primary School's outdoor project
The team at Barratt Homes has got stuck into a day’s volunteering at Heartwood Primary School at Swaffham.
The school recently started work on a new project to improve its grounds for its pupils, many of whom live in flats with no gardens or outdoor space, and reached out to the developer to see if it could help.
On the day, a team of eight from Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire turned up to give the school a helping hand, including building a wide range of new play equipment.
Emily McMillen, headteacher, said: “On behalf of the staff and pupils at our school, I would like to say a big thank you to the Barratt Homes team for their time and support.
“The team were wonderful and their help will have such an impact for our pupils.”
Since Barratt Homes started building at Ceres Rise in Swaffham, the developer has built a strong relationship with Heartwood Primary School, including a donation of books for Anti-bullying Week, a storytelling session for National Storytelling Week, and an artwork competition for Children’s Art Week.
Daniel Evans, managing director at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “As a leading housebuilder we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build and were delighted to be able to help the school with its outdoor project.
“As soon as the school reached out, we were really keen to help them with the construction of the new play equipment. We hope the children at Heartwood CE VC Primary School will enjoy playing on the new equipment.”
