Hunstanton Ice Water Challenge goes viral at nearly 100,000 views
Hunstanton Round Table have already raised £2,269 for five charitable causes after their Ice Water Challenge went viral.
Videos have reached almost 100,000 views for the challenge, which has replaced the annual Christmas Day swim which has been cancelled due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Ed Napolitano, of Hunstanton Round Table, said: "This year would have been the 63rd Hunstanton Round Table Christmas Day swim.
"With over 200 participants and more than 4,000 spectators arriving on the prom every year on Christmas morning, there was no way we could ensure the safety of everyone in a year like 2020.
"So we made the decision to move the cold water soakings online!"
So far, more than 60 people have braved the bucket and sent in videos to the Hunstanton Round Table Facebook page.
They have raised £2,269 for the National Autistic Society West Norfolk, Hunstanton Rotary Club, Sophie Burke, Hunstanton Round Table and St John’s Church Community Project.
Ed added: "We were due to end the event on Christmas Day but seeing as it’s gone viral we would like to extend it into the new year!"
"It’s phenomenal to think that despite all that has happened in 2020 people are still happy to raise and donate money to worthy causes."
"If anyone would like to find out how to take part or donate, please check out the Hunstanton & District Round Table Facebook page."
Round Table will be offering a prize of £100 for Best Fancy Dress and another £100 for best video.
