Hunstanton man fined after abusing elderly property landlord
A Hunstanton man who hurled foul-mouthed abuse at an elderly landlord has been handed a £629 court bill.
Billy-Ray Jenkins chipped in when Peter Fisher went to flats he owned in Church Street to question tenant Cameron Marshall about alleged damage and non-payment of rent.
Marshall was given an 18 month community order for his role in the incident earlier this month.
But Jenkins, 20, did not attend Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday as scheduled.
The case, which had previously been adjourned, went ahead in his absence.
Jenkins, of Avenue Road, was charged with using threatening words or behaviour likely to cause distress.
Prosecutor Wayne Ablett said Jenkins poked his head out of a window and started to shout abuse at Mr Fisher as he spoke to Marshall.
Jenkins swore several times and called the landlord a “stupid old man” who didn’t know what he was doing.
“Mr Fisher duly reported matters to police and Mr Jenkins was arrested,” said Mr Ablett.
Magistrates found the case proved and fined Jenkins £440 with £145 costs and a £44 victim surcharge.
