Enquiries continue after man charged with assault and kidnap - with investigation focusing on woman’s lift from Litcham to Dereham

Police are continuing their investigations into an incident which resulted in a man being charged with kidnap, assault, criminal damage and burglary.

Last week, officers asked for the public's help to trace a couple who gave a woman a lift from Litcham to Dereham in the early hours of Sunday, March 16.

Overnight between March 15 and 16, an incident occurred which resulted in the woman sustaining facial injuries, cuts, and scratches.

“The couple have now come forward and we would like to thank the media and public for their help,” a Norfolk Police spokesperson said.

However, the force continues to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed a woman in distress on the A47 at Little Fransham late on the night in question.

Following enquiries, Shane Cross, 31, of Paradise Road in Bawdeswell, near Dereham, appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court last Monday charged with assault, kidnap, criminal damage, and burglary.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Crown Court on April 14.

Police confirmed that those involved were known to each other.
