Gayton Road near King’s Lynn to be closed overnight for skid resistance work
A key road will be closed for three nights as part of work to improve its skid resistance.
The B1145 Gayton Road will be closed overnight for highway maintenance between 7.30pm and 6pm from this Wednesday to Friday.
The closure will be in place between the west end of Gayton and the junction with the A149 Queen Elizabeth Way roundabout in Lynn.
This work, to prevent surface deterioration and improve skid resistance, will cost £49,371 - and is being carried out by Norfolk County Council’s infrastructure department and its contractors.
An official signed diversion route will be available via the B1153 Grimston Road/Congham Road/Gayton Road/Station Road, the A148 Lynn Road/Hillington Road and the A149 Queen Elizabeth Way, and vice versa.
A county council statement said: “Access to properties within the closure will be maintained at all times, although some delays may occur.
“The county council thanks people for their patience while this work is carried out.”
This is an ongoing treatment used on parts of Norfolk’s classified network to prevent the surface layer deteriorating further and improve the skid resistance.
The process has a low carbon footprint and is used to elongate the life of the surface layer.
