King's Lynn driver denies damage to wheel clamp

A Lynn motorist has appeared in court over damaging a wheel clamp he removed.

The clamping had been ordered by DVLA for non-payment of road tax.

Luke Hasdell, 26, was pulled over in the same vehicle for a routine check on June 16, 2020.

Lynn Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday that police found the clamp with a damaged link in the boot. They also found a small amount of cannabis.

Checks confirmed that the clamp had been put on three months earlier and had not been removed by DVLA.

Hasdell, of Archdale Street, was arrested and later admitted that he had removed the clamp but it had been on loose enough that no damage had been caused.

He denied causing £100 damage and pleaded guilty to drug possession.

A trial was fixed for July 13 when sentencing for the drug matter will be done too.
