King's Lynn woman stole purse

A Lynn woman stole a purse and tried to use a bank card to buy alcohol.

Town magistrates were told on Thursday that Amy Horrex, 43, had taken the purse from a handbag at Sanctuary Supported Living premises in Lynn.

The victim, who lost £15, a driving licence and two debit cards, cancelled the cards.

She was then contacted by her bank to say that attempts had been made to use them in Seabank Store and a Nisa shop.

Horrex, of London Road, was identified from CCTV images. She told police that if it was her on the footage then she accepted the offences but she had been too intoxicated to remember.

Horrex pleaded guilty to theft and fraud by false representation on December 17, 2020.

In mitigation, the defendant said: “There’s no excuse, what I did was wrong. It’s just not like me to do that sort of thing.”

She added that she was now working with alcohol support provider CGL.

Horrex was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £75 compensation to the victim and £72 in costs and surcharge.
