King's Lynn woman to take to the skies for Norfolk Mind

A woman is taking to the skies to raise money for mental health charity Norfolk Mind.

April Auker,30, a cleaner from Lynn is hoping to take part in a charity skydive this month after a successful fundraising effort last year.

During lockdown last year Miss Auker managed to raise an impressive £500 for the mental health charity and hopes to do so again this year.

She said: “I feel like there is still a stigma around mental health and people have really suffered during lockdown, which is why I want to keep doing this.

“I would do it every year if I could, my family and friends have been so supportive.

“Mental health can effect anyone at anytime. It doesn’t care about age, race, sex or your lifestyle choices.

“So many people think they are alone and no one will understand, and unfortunately because of this people decide that the only way they can escape or feel better is to take their own life which is heartbreaking.”

Her fundraising target this year is £500.

Miss Auker aims to do the dive on July 24 or 25 but this is yet to confirmed by Beccles Airfield in Waveney.
