King's Lynn's Samaritans plea for fundraising support

Lynn's Samaritans are calling for donations to their Christmas fundraising campaign after the pandemic put a stop to vital fundraising in 2020.

With the ever-increasing need for the service in the wake of Covid-19, the charity is asking for donations via text so they can continue supporting distressed callers.

Samaritans director Rachel Goldsmith said: “We are exploring all opportunities to raise essential funds, so that we can continue to maintain support for our distressed callers.

"At this time of the year our volunteers would normally be busy with bucket collections, coffee mornings and other activities with the very generous people of Lynn.

"This year we are going live with the easy to use and innovative Text to Donate’ facility."

The charity works across the UK and Ireland to reduce the number of people who take their own lives.

They provide a listening ear to anyone who is going through a difficult time.

The Samaritans believe suicide is preventable and that every life lost to suicide is a tragedy.

The charity supports anyone who is struggling to cope – day or night, every day of the year.

Volunteers take action to prevent callers reaching crisis point by helping people to find other ways to cope.

They also help callers to learn the skills to be there and support others.

You can donate £5 by texting KLSAMS to 70085 – texts cost £5 plus one standard message rate.

Donate a different amount by texting KLSAMS to 70460 and enter the other amount. Texts cost your donation amount plus one standard message.

Or to donate £5 per month to the Lynn branch of the Samaritans, text KLSAMS to 70450. Texts cost £5 plus two standard message rates.

If you are struggling to cope, anyone can contact Samaritans free at any time from any phone on 116 123.

This service is even on a mobile without credit. This number won’t show up on your phone bill.
