Swaffham landlord unhappy as outdoor seating removed by Breckland Council
The landlord of a market place pub has complained about the district council removing his outdoor seating area.
Rob Bartram, of the Red Lion in Swaffham, bemoaned Breckland Council asking him to remove his seating to make way for parking bays. The council has said it is trying to resolve local parking issues.
Mr Bartram said: “Lots of people could sit outside and enjoy the air but Breckland has reinstated the parking bays now.
“I wrote a letter appealing because I have spent money on that outside area and Breckland Council just take it away.”
It is not the first time the benches have been removed, and The Greyhound Inn has also been reportedly affected.
A spokesman for Breckland Council said: “We are listening to local issues and trying to find a suitable solution to parking issues within Swaffham.
“We are seeking to balance the interests of local businesses, residents, and the public health of our communities at this challenging time.”
