Large straw stack fire at Terrington St Clement




Firefighters dealt with a large blaze at farmland close to Terrington St Clement this weekend.

The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning in straw bales and the flames raged for hours.

Residents in the vicinity of the blaze in Sutton Road were advised to keep their windows closed as fire crews dealt with the flames. The road was also closed in both directions but is now reopen.

The cause of the blaze is not known, although it was not thought to be arson. The blaze started at the top of the stack, it is thought, possibly indicating that it could have been caused by a sky lantern.
