Man charged over fatal hit-and-run in Fakenham's Cattle Market Street which killed motorcyclist
A man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run which killed a motorcyclist in Fakenham on Wednesday.
Jake Nicholson, 33, of no fixed address, has been charged with a number of offences including causing death by dangerous driving after the crash on Cattle Market Street at about 11.15pm.
He appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court today and was remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, September 16.
It comes after emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving a white Honda motorbike and a silver Mitsubishi Shogun on Wednesday evening.
The Mitsubishi failed to stop at the scene, before colliding with a wall on Dereham Road, Hempton, before it was found shortly afterwards on North Drive in Fakenham. The driver had left the scene.
The motorbike rider, a 26-year-old man, died the following day as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Further enquiries established that a pedestrian at the scene, a 33-year-old man, was also injured as a result of the collision.
Nicholson was charged with causing death by dangerous driving; causing serious injury by dangerous driving; failing to stop at the scene of a collision - Cattle Market Street; dangerous driving; failing to stop at the scene of a collision - Dereham Road; and drink driving.
