A Lynn man who was caught driving three times over the legal limit has been banned for 26 months.

Lee Ellis, 41, of Alexandria House, Dodmans Close, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He was caught with 114 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on the A10 at Tottenhill on September 19. The legal limit is 35.

The court heard Ellis’ alcohol intake was triggered after hearing news that somebody in his hostel had died from a fatal overdose.

Tiffany Meredith, mitigating, said: “He had stopped drinking because he is on the liver transplant list.

“He felt as though he was having a breakdown and drank like a fish.

“He felt the need to just get out of the premises and got into his car”

Magistrates also handed Ellis a £200 fine, £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
