Man given 14-year sentence for sex offences against children in West Norfolk

A man has been given an extended 14 year sentence for child sex offences, including several counts of rape, which were committed in West Norfolk over a six year period.

James Amphlett-Roberts, 21, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court last Friday, having been convicted of 12 charges at an earlier trial.

The offences include three counts of rape, five of sexual assault by touching and four of inciting children to engage in sexual activity.

All of the offences were committed against girls and boys who were aged under 13 in West Norfolk between March 2011 and May 2017.

Amphlett-Roberts, formerly of Barney, near Fakenham, was found guilty of the charges against him following a trial held at Norwich Crown Court in December.

He was given an eight-year prison term on each of the three rape charges, plus a six year period on licence.

The other offences attracted prison terms of six and four years respectively, all followed by the six year period on licence.

He will have to serve at least two thirds of the eight year term before he can be considered for parole.

He can also be recalled to prison at any time during the licence period if he breaches its terms.
