Wisbech man Mark Evans headbutted car during drunken outburst at The Ffolkes in Hillington
A man has lost his job after a drunken onslaught at a village pub saw him headbutt a car window.
Police were called to The Ffolkes in Hillington on December 7 after Mark Evans, of Olympian Close in Wisbech, became abusive towards its door staff.
The 42-year-old tried to kick one member of the team, and was subsequently arrested.
Evans appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive behaviour to cause fear of violence, as well as common assault.
The court heard that Evans had been “causing issues” in the venue during a pre-Christmas work outing, and when he was asked to leave he told staff to “f**k off” before stepping outside to have a cigarette.
Staff proceeded to collect his belongings and take them outside so he would not have to re-enter the premises.
However, Evans subsequently grabbed hold of one man by the jacket, pushing him up against a wall before taking him to the floor.
He then threatened another man who had just finished enjoying a meal with his partner.
The victim locked his car door, but Evans proceeded to headbutt one of the vehicle’s windows.
In a police interview, he admitted he was drunk and struggled to remember the incident.
Mitigating, duty solicitor Andrew Cogan said nobody was injured during Evans’ outburst.
He told the court that Evans himself received a black eye, as well as bruised fingers.
“He has come out of it very much the worse,” he added.
Mr Cogan said Evans’ colleagues reported his actions, and he was dismissed from his job the following day.
Meanwhile, his relationship with his partner has become “strained” and he has moved out of their home.
“So the consequences of a pre-Christmas party have already been severe,” Mr Cogan said.
Magistrates fined Evans a total of £280, while he will also pay £112 in victim surcharges and £85 in court costs.
