Menopause and Me event being put on at Hunstanton Community Centre
An event coming to the area will give women a chance to chat to experts about their menopause journey and what can help them.
Hunstanton Community Centre is hosting the menopause well-being event on Sunday, October 20 from 11am-3pm.
In response to the growing number of women expressing confusion and frustration about the changes they face as they enter menopause, a community support group has been formed to provide a safe space for education, sharing, and understanding.
‘The Menopause and Me’ group was created by Kerry-Ann Lawrence and Debbie Evans and has been running for more than 12 months.
Both ladies, who are are therapists in the area, have had many conversations with women who felt uninformed and unheard as they navigated the various stages of menopause.
Many women felt unprepared for the physical, mental, and emotional changes that were happening to them.
The focus of the group is to empower women, helping them better understand the stages of menopause and to signpost them to experts to assist with managing their symptoms.
There is also the opportunity for families to get involved so that they too can understand the changes and symptoms and be able to understand what their loved ones are going through.
Beyond the physical and emotional changes, the group acknowledges the importance of mental health during this time, creating an atmosphere where participants feel heard, validated, and supported.
For this reason, meetings are held monthly around and in Lynn, and social events are organised to help overcome anxiety and other side effects.
