Mother handed six points on license after allowing disqualified ex-partner to drive her car on A17 Pullover Road
A mother appeared in court after allowing her ex-partner to drive her car illegally.
Carly Clark, 28, of Farrow Avenue in Holbeach, appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where she admitted allowing her ex-partner to drive her car while he was disqualified.
Prosecutor Anna Crayford told the court that police had stopped the Ford Ranger which belonged to Clark on the A17 Pullover Road in King’s Lynn after it flagged up as an uninsured driver.
The car belonged to Clark but because her ex-partner was disqualified in February 2023, the insurance did not cover him.
In mitigation, solicitor George Sorrell told the court that she had her three young children in the back of the car on the way to the dentist.
She started off driving but started to feel unwell and the babies in the back “were not comfortable and screaming”.
Her ex-partner jumped into the driver's seat and was taking the vehicle to McDonald's car park nearby so she could sit in the back and help the children. She has a four-year-old, a two-year-old and an eight-month-old.
Mr Sorrell said she relies on the vehicle to take the children to nursery, shopping and getting about. He also went on to say, she is of good character and has never been in trouble before.
Magistrates handed Clark six points on her licence and she was fined £120.
She will also pay a victim surcharge of £48 and court costs of £85.
