Mystery man wrapped in blanket caught on door cameras in Downham Market




A mystery man has been caught on home CCTV cameras wandering around Downham wrapped in a blanket.

The bizarre video shows a male, approaching two houses on Daisy Lane in Downham and then wandering away.

Several Downham residents have footage of the blanket wearer and have posted them to social media.

Photos taken from CCTV show the man, who is wearing a Gym King branded t-shirt, covering his face with the quilt, showing only his eyes.

One of the home owners who provided footage of the occurrence said: "The same man was here last week around 4am.

"The police have been informed."

The Lynn News has seen footage where a male of similar build appears on Daisy Lane, in an almost identical scene, but without the blanket.

There have also been reports of the same happening at Willow Road and Bluebell Road in Downham.

There have been no break-ins reported following the footage, although residents have said a car was stolen.

Norfolk police said: "We received a report that a man was acting suspiciously around properties in Daisy Lane, Downham, in the early hours of this morning.

In addition, there has also been a report of a burglary at a property in Bluebell Close, which also happened in the early hours of this morning. A white Audi A5 car was stolen from outside the property.

"Officers are investigating both incidents but it’s currently unclear if they are linked. Officers are continuing with their enquiries.

"Any witnesses or anybody with information, dashcam or doorbell camera footage, who hasn’t yet come forward and spoken to police, is asked to call Swaffham CID, on 101 quoting incident number 52 for the suspicious activity in "Daisy Lane or incident number 105 for the stolen car from Bluebell Close. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 500 111."

The residents of Daisy Lane and other areas of Downham have said on social media they will be "keeping their doors locked".

A social media user said: "There are some strange people around."
