Marham Parish Council concerned over narrow road at The Street ahead of planning application for two bungalows being built
Councillors and residents have objected to two bungalows being built due to worries over a ‘very narrow’ single track road.
Building company HC Moss has submitted an application to build the three-bedroom chalets on land off The Street, Marham – and West Norfolk Council’s planning committee will vote on it come its meeting on Monday.
However, Marham Parish Council believes the proposed access route – a private road which currently provides access to an Anglian Water waterworks site just off the site – is unsafe due to its lack of width.
In a planning report, the council said: “This means that any vehicle would not be able to see another vehicle approaching and should they meet would necessitate one of them reversing.
“This is compounded by the fact that the same road is used to access Anglian Water waterworks and is regularly used by their vehicles including vans and heavy lorries.”
The parish council also previously raised concerns regarding overdevelopment, insufficient services and employment opportunities in Marham, and dangers for young children at the site.
However, planning officers have recommended that the plans be approved subject to a number of conditions.
That is despite 40 letters of objection being received from three neighbouring dwellings.
They also cite the narrow access road and noise worries amongst other concerns.
