Neighbours' festive lights in Downham Market raise hundreds for two charity causes
Hundreds of pounds have been raised for two charity causes thanks to two neighbours’ Christmas lights display in Downham.
Susan Good-Lewis, Justin Lewis and Margaret Diggle, who live in neighbouring properties in Park Lane, gathered a total of £1,255.20 from the donations they received for their bright festive arrangements.
The neighbours have been raising funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance with their colourful decorations which delight residents in the town from November to January for a number of years, but this time they have also fundraised for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of Mrs Diggle’s husband Brian who died last year from lung cancer.
This year, the proceeds have been split between two causes, with £637.60 to the East Anglian Air Ambulance and £617.60 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They said: “21 and 23 Park Lane, Downham Market, would like to thank all the kind people who donated money during our Christmas lights display.”
Among the donations were four old pennies, which have also been given to the charities in the hope they are of value.
The lights were sponsored by Knicat Bakery Ltd and DiggleNet Ltd, both of Downham.
