New dates announced for King's Lynn Players show
New dates have just been revealed for a Lynn theatre company's production of a childhood classic this July.
The King's Lynn Players have rescheduled their performance of The Railway Children to July 15-17 after the pandemic forced the UK into the first lockdown last spring.
Director Sharon Fox said “We are over the moon to be able to perform again! We have worked closely with Alive Leisure and the great team at The Guildhall of St George and in line with government guidelines we have rescheduled our performances to July. All ticket holders will be contacted by the box office to inform them”
Publicity officer Tom Clarke added: “Our cast were on stage for a technical rehearsal as lockdown one was announced so the show was literally abandoned and the set was left in situ. Our audiences will be so pleased that they finally get to see this classic story on stage.”
Through the words of Station Master, Mr Perks, the beloved story of Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis is brought to life. Their world is turned upside down when unbeknown to them, their Father is imprisoned for selling state secrets.
With their Mother, they move to Three Chimneys Cottage in the country. The railway near their new home becomes the focal point for a series of adventures which bring new friendships, love and dramas that unite the whole community.
The show will play at Lynn's Guildhall on July 15, 16 and 17 at 7.30pm. There will also be a matinee performance at 2.30pm on July 17.
Sponsored by The Lynn News, the show will also be working with The Benjamin Foundation to help collect money for their Right Tracks Centre.
The organisation works to end youth homelessness and are tackling the problem locally by providing accommodation to 12 homeless people aged 16 to 25. They give them a stable home and the skills they need so they can forge an independent life.
Tickets are still available at £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and a family ticket is available for £32. Book now: https://www.kingslynncornexchange.co.uk/theatre/whats-on/theatre/the-railway-children/#tickets
