Norfolk County Council disappointed with Terrington St Clement dog business building new fence off A17, which is up for approval from borough council's planning committee
The county council has expressed disappointment over a dog training business' new fence which it believes has hampered visibility at an A17 junction.
James Harding has submitted a part-retrospective application to replace a front fence at Westfield Gardens, Market Lane, Terrington St Clement.
It has been replaced by wooden boarding over six feet in height, with another fence proposed to replace the front driveway. The site has a residential dwelling, but also houses a dog training business. It lies adjacent to the A17 and is surrounded by fields and countryside.
Planning officers have recommended that permission is refused when West Norfolk Council’s planning committee votes on the matter at its meeting on Monday.
Norfolk County Council’s highways team has said that “the fencing has resulted in the field access to have inadequate visibility for the speed of traffic passing the site”.
Mr Harding, who has lived at the site since October 2020, has claimed that removing or re-locating the fence will cause a “huge and significant cost and detriment” to the dog training business.
Terrington St Clement Parish Council also supports the fence being moved.
